All of us get by with a little help from our friends. However, these friends usually aren’t trained and are too close to the situation to be objective. This is one reason therapy can be transformative. Sometimes having someone help us identify our unique strengths can be empowering, because often we can’t see these traits in ourselves. We all have tools we’ve developed through our lives to overcome struggles, and knowing when to use these tools can be tricky on our own. Other times we simply need someone to validate our experiences and feelings. No matter what brings you to counseling, having a safe and supportive space is always a good first step in the right direction.
Before coming to Meaningful Connections, I worked locally as a Social Worker. This background gave me an understanding of how to connect people with community resources, identify support systems and work with an individual’s personal strengths to overcome obstacles.
